HIOKI Sustainability Activities
Basic Sustainability Policy
The Hioki Group will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through its business based on the principles of “respect for humanity” and “contribution to society.
- The Hioki Group will contribute to the security and development of society by promoting the safe and effective use of energy by customers through electrical measurement.
- We will build a relationship of trust with all stakeholders through active communication.
- As a member of society, we will engage in activities that contribute to the development of society and environmental preservation.
Hioki Sustainability Declaration
We will continue our efforts to decarbonize our business based on the following targets.
- 2025 (90th anniversary of founding)
Achieve carbon neutrality in Scope 1 and Scope 2. - 2035 (100th anniversary)
Achieve carbon neutrality in Scope 3.
Note For Scope 3, we aim to achieve carbon offset without relying on emissions trading as much as possible to achieve the goal by 2035.
Note Scope 1: Direct emissions of greenhouse gases by businesses themselves (fuel combustion, industrial processes).
Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the use of electricity, heat and steam supplied by other companies.
Scope 3: Indirect emissions other than Scope 1 and Scope 2 (emissions of other companies related to the company’s activities).

・HIOKI has established “noble ethics” as one of its 10 management guidelines to prevent corruption.

TCFD
Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures
・HIOKI endorses TCFD and participates in the TCFD consortium in Japan.

・HIOKI’s TCFD scenario is described in the Corporate Governance Code.
TNFD
Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures
・In 1988, all HIOKI employees planted approximately 60,000 saplings to create the HIOKI Forest Hills Forest in an effort to “restore the nature that was lost during the construction of the plant. This forest is home to valuable plants, insects, and animals.
Today, approximately 90,000 trees, plants, and animals coexist in the forest.
・HIOKI is participating in Ueda City’s “Nigiyakana Mori Project” to conserve local forests. This is connected to activities to protect the forest ecosystem.
・HIOKI purchases J-credits derived from forests in Nagano Prefecture.
These costs are used to conserve forests and protect living organisms in Nagano Prefecture.
・HIOKI has launched the “Sea Forest Project”.
Eelgrass is seen as a part of local natural environment protection and environmental education. We help people understand the importance of ecosystems through our eelgrass seedling program.
・The HIOKI Scholarship Greening Fund also participates in the Forest Foster Parent Promotion Project.
